re: Steak and Shake Chili - good but not SNS good

Made the "Steak 'n Shake" Chili last night. It was good, but not Steak 'n Shake good. It was missing something, and my husband and I can't quite figure it out. I used chili beans instead of kidney beans, but, I don't think that would have made much of a difference.

Still searching for a recipe closer to the original.
