25 MINUTE ITALIAN SPAGHETTI
1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon shortening (or oil)
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup diced celery
4 cups tomato juice
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound uncooked spaghetti
Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Brown beef and onions in hot shortening (or oil).
Add green pepper, celery, tomato juice, tomato paste, spices, and salt. Bring to a boil, then add uncooked spaghetti. Cover and simmer 25 minutes.
Just before serving, stir to blend spaghetti with sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Makes 4 servings
