SQUASH AND ONIONS

6 cups (2 pounds) sliced summer squash
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
Place squash and onion in water to which salt has been added and cook on medium heat until tender. Add pepper and butter.
Makes 6 to 8 servings
