Recipe: Homestyle Barbecue Sauce (Heinz Ketchup recipe)

Toppings - Sauces and Gravies
HOMESTYLE BARBECUE SAUCE

2 tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup Heinz Ketchup
1/2 cup beef stock, beer or water
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper or black pepper

In saucepan, cook onion in butter until softened.

Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.

Makes 1 1/2 cups
