Recipe(tried): Missouri Casserole - Variation

Main Dishes - Casseroles
This is a dish that my mother often made as I grew up. There were 6 in the family and it was a cheap easy dish to make.

In a sauce pan she heated and seasoned:
2 cans (16 oz. each) stewed tomatoes
1 1/2 cups sugar (or to taste)
1 1/2 tsp. marjoram
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground black pepper

Then spread that mixture over the top layer (replacing the tomatoes in this recipe).

This was such a fond memory of my childhood, I just had my wife make it for my 70th. birthday..
