Recipe: Old Virginia Cobbler (Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits flyer, 1960's)

OLD VIRGINIA COBBLER

1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
5 cups (5 to 6 medium) apples, pared and sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 can Pillsbury Refrigerated Biscuits
Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in saucepan; gradually blend in 1/2 cup water. Add apples. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are almost tender. Remove from heat.

Add lemon juice and butter. Pour into 9x9x2-inch baking dish. Arrange Biscuits on top.

Bake at 425 degrees F for about 20 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and apples are tender.

If desired, top with whipped cream. Serve warm.

Makes 4-6 servings
