This recipe comes from the APS (Arizona Public Service, electric company) cookbook I was given at my very first cooking class as a child. I don't even want to THINK about how many years ago that was! One of the recipes from that book, Graham Cracker Toffee, I still use today. It's highly addictive tho, so I have to be careful!
ONE-DISH SPACHETTI
1 pound ground beef
1 No. 2 1/2 can (3 1/2 cups) whole tomatoes
1 package Spaghetti Sauce Mix (1 1/2 ounces)
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1/3 cup finely chopped green pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
6 ounces thin spaghetti, broken into 1-inch pieces
Brown meat in a 10- or 12-inch electric skillet using a temperature of 325 degrees F. Drain off any excess grease from the meat.
Add tomatoes, spaghetti sauce mix, onions, green pepper, salt and pepper. Let simmer for a few minutes.
Add spaghetti, stir well and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to 225 degrees F., cover and cook for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. If necessary, add an additional small amount of water.
(A nice quick and easy dish and very few dishes to do after the meal.)
