Picnic Barbecued Chicken
Servings 8
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 teaspoons butter or margarine, melted
1 cup catsup
3/4 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon celery seeds
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 dashes of hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 (2-1/2 to 3-pound) broiler-fryers, quartered
Saute garlic in melted butter in a small saucepan until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients except chicken; bring to a boil. Remove barbecue sauce from heat, and set aside. Grill chicken, skin side up, over medium coals 15 minutes. Baste with reserved barbecue sauce. Grill an additional 40 minutes or until done. Baste every 10 minutes with remaining sauce.
