PORK BALLS IN SWEET-SOUR SAUCE
1 (2 oz) pkg sweet and sour sauce mix
1 lb ground pork
1/4 cup uncooked rice
2 tbsp instant minced onion
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp allspice
hot cooked rice (to serve)
Prepare sauce mix as directed on label and set aside.
Bring a pot of water to a boil.*
Mix together pork and remaining ingredients, except cooked rice, and shape in 1 1/2-inch balls.
Drop gently into boiling water, lower heat and simmer 20 minutes. Remove cooked balls to hot platter.
Pour prepared sauce over balls. Serve with rice.
Meatballs can also be kept warm in oven until serving time.
*TO COOK IN THE OVEN:
If preferred, put meatballs in shallow baking dish. Cover with the sauce and bake at 325 degrees F about 20 minutes.
