Recipe: Stuffed Cabbage

Stuffed Cabbage

1 lb. ground meat
1 head cabbage (with large leaves)
1/2 cup rice
1 egg
1 Tbsp. sugar
salt/pepper to taste
1 tsp. Italian spices (or use mix of 1/2 tsp. oregano, 1/2 tsp. basil)
1 large can stewed tomatoes

Carefully separate and wash cabbage leaves; wilt with boiling water (slit or remove center spine of each leaf). Combine meat, egg, sugar, salt, pepper, and uncooked rice. Place about 1 Tbsp. of mixture in cabbage leaf and wrap as an envelope. Place all cabbage rolls in large pot; pour stewed tomatoes over all. Simmer slowly on stovetop about 2 hours.
