Recipe: Sweet and Sour Green Beans (using fresh green beans)

SWEET AND SOUR GREEN BEANS

1 lb. (3 cups) fresh green beans, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup oil

In medium saucepan, combine beans and enough water to cover. Bring to boil and cook until tender-crisp; drain.

In large bowl, combine beans and onion; mix well.

In small bowl, combine remaining ingredients; pour over bean mixture. Cover and chill several hours or overnight.

Makes 8 servings
