ISO: best way to split a coconut

Misc.
Does anyone here know of the best way to split a coconut? BTW i don't have a machete i my kitchen drawer (no surprise there!!) so i wondered what the best way to do it is? I have seen some twits on tv trying to crack them with rocks and all sorts but then they lose the water? Maybe i could drill a hole in it, drain the water but then what? Lastly once i've cracked open the coconut what can i do with the flesh/how can i store it etc. You guys always seem to come up with answer to most things so maybe you can help on this one ;-)
