either the National Chicken Cooking Contest or the DelMarVa chicken contest - back in the 60's (I just tried to find the booklet now, but it's probably still in a box.) - I believe it was a woman from Massachusetts and she won the top prize that year. Of course, we all know that not everything at these cook-offs is original! And I don't think they had to be at that contest at that time.

However, I remember (this was in the 60's, Jos) thinking that it was an interesting recipe and making it -- and we all liked it. We usually serve it over rice.

Sometimes I used to 'do' the same 'sauce' and pour it over small meatballs (usually ground turkey/Ital.sausae mix) that I'd browned in the oven - then I'd add the sauce ingredients and bake. We liked this better than the popular one with grape jelly.
