Re: It's HOT in Texas!

Misc.

Hi Kathleen,
I think the whole country is sweltering!! I have some recipes for the
microwave but they're for a big heavy one. Haven't tried any of these either
perhaps you could adjust them to your microwave. They're from the Successful
Microwaving with Toshiba. Hope this helps! If you can tell me what exactly
you're looking to cook, I'll check and see if there is a recipe. Good Luck and
stay cool!

Basic Pot Roast
Total Cooking Time: 2 hours, 55 minutes
Serves 4 to 6
3 to 3 and 1/2 lb. beef chuck roast 1 envelope (1 and 1/4 oz) onion soup
mix
1 can (10 and 3/4 oz) condensed beef broth
3 medium potatoes, cut into eighths
1 and 1/2 cups thinly sliced carrots

Pierce roast on both sides with fork. Place in cooking bag. Pour onion soup
mix and beef broth over meat. Close bag with strip cut from cooking bag or
with string. Place bag in a 12 by 8 baking dish. Microwave at HIGH for 10
minutes. Turn dish. Reduce power to 3; microwave for 1 hour. Turn roast over.
Add potatoes and carrots to cooking bag, reseal. Microwave at 3 for 1 and 1/2
to 1 and 3/4 hours or until roast and vegetables are tender.

Breaded Pork Chops

Total Cooking Time 14 minutes
Serves 4

4 pork chops, 1/2 inch thick
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup dry seasoned bread crumbs

Dip each chop in beaten egg, then coat in bread crumbs. Arrange on roasting
rack. Microwave at HIGH for 3 minutes. Rearrange chops. Reduce power to 5
Microwave for 81/2 to 11 minutes, or until pork near bone is no longer pink,
rearranging pork after half this cooking time.

Please remember that I haven't tried these! Also, check other sections on
this board for crockpot and no cooking ideas. There are lots!
