Recipe: Layered Tostada Dip (Kraft Miracle Whip recipe, 1980's)

LAYERED TOSTADA DIP

"Our Mexican neighbors have taught us a lot about the imaginative use of refried beans, avocados, and chilies. This festive dip is just one of the appetizing results."



FOR THE BEAN MIXTURE:
1 (16 oz.) can refried beans
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
FOR THE AVOCADO MIXTURE:
2 avocados, peeled, mashed
1/2 cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
4 crisply cooked bacon slices, crumbled
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of hot pepper sauce
FOR THE LAYERS:
1 cup chopped ripe olives
1 cup chopped tomato
1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chilies, drained
1 cup (4 oz.) shredded Casino brand natural Monterey jack cheese

Combine beans and chili powder; mix well.

Combine avocados, salad dressing, bacon, onion and seasonings; mix well.

Layer bean mixture, avocado mixture, olives, tomato, chilies and cheese in shallow bowl.

Serve with tortilla chips.

TIP: The avocado mixture can be served alone or as a dip or topping for Mexican dishes.

Makes 6 cups
