My Mom would dot the tops with butter before putting on the top crust then, when we ate them, we sometimes added a bit more. Dad always had gravy on his and my DH eats them with catsup. Our family came from Birmingham and Royal Oak, so we are of the rutabega, not carrot pasty eaters!- Micha
