How I would love to find that new doggie!
Misc.Last night, Ed and I went to our association dinner where the men did the cooking and cleaning up! It was a really wonderful dinner and I'm trying to get the recipe for the salmon glaze/marinade that they used. It was one of the best I've ever had.
The menu was: Glazed Salmon, Tuscany Vegetables, Twice-Baked Potatoes, Mushroom/Sausage Stuffing (which was left over from the stuffed mushrooms done as an appetizer which the men presented to everyone on large trays as they walked thru the clubhouse - Very sweet and nice!) Rolls, butter, sherbets and sugar cookies for dessert.
The glaze had mustard, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, pureed mangos, ginger root - that much I got from the guy who was in charge of the salmon - he promises he will get the recipe to me for the start of our cookbook project. Also the recipe for the stuffed mushrooms which were wonderful.
Re: the doggies - during the business part of the luncheon, a dog-lover woman got up and announced that 75 dogs that had been rescued from New Orleans and Mississippi areas were in the Animal Rescue Center here in Ft. Myers. They need volunteers to walk them and to adopt them. If only I could talk DH into another one, but he's still opposed to it based on our traveling and that he is the one who would be walking the dog morning and night and his walking ability is really deteriorating as time goes on. I can surely understand this, but I crave a warm, cuddly furry being in my life (other than DH! He refuses to lay at my feet with my toes tucked under him for warmth LOL!)
It's so good to be home and back with good friends again.
I know in my head that my Mom is better off now, but my heart still hurts for her presence on this earth.
Love to you, Gladys and Blackie the landscaper!
