re: cornish pasty
Misc.after coming on this site to get the recipe for cornish pasties i thought it my duty as a cornishman to set the record straight. A true cornish pasty in the sense had meat and potato one side with a jam rolly polly on the other side the outside or crust was baked hard enough to withstand being dropped down a cornish tin mine and when eaten the crust was discarded and the filling eaten (where could the miners wash their hands) of late there are 4 ingredients mince beef or steak if you are rich enough potato onion and swede (we call it turnip). the cornish are a very proud race and now have been recognised by brussels as an ethnic minority which is funny as most cornish do not recognise the english let alone europe! when i go out driving its funny to see that the cornish nationalists have either rubbed out the english rose road signs (depicting a place of interest) or stuck the cornish flag over the top the council has now given up on that idea. as in our natinal anthem- there is 20,000 cornishmen that will tell you the reason why.
