Recipe: Easy Breakfast Cinnamon Rolls
Breakfast and Brunch Easy Breakfast Cinnamon Rolls
Makes 12 servings
It is hard to resist the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls. If you are watching your weight, you can still enjoy the sweet treat by trimming the sugar, fat, calories and portion size.
Serve these delicious rolls with fresh fruit and milk for an easy breakfast. You can even go a little nutty by adding chopped pecans over the rolls before baking.
Butter-flavored cooking spray
1 (10-ounce) can pizza crust dough
3 tbsp. reduced fat margarine
1/3 c. sugar
3 tsp. ground cinnamon
4-6 tbsp. low-fat, canned vanilla frosting
2 tbsp. pecans, finely chopped (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly spray 12 muffin cups with cooking spray and set aside. Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
2. Roll dough out on baking sheet, forming a rectangle. Spread margarine evenly over the dough. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle all but 2 tablespoons of the mixture over the margarine and spray with cooking spray.
3. Roll the dough jelly roll style, starting with the short end of the dough. Pinch the edge to seal the long edge of the dough. Use kitchen shears to cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
4. Put each round of dough into a muffin tin. Lightly spray the surface of the dough, then sprinkle each round with the remaining cinnamon sugar. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
5. After removing rolls from oven, place frosting into a microwave safe container and microwave for a few seconds. Drizzle the frosting evenly over the rolls. Add chopped nuts if desired.
