Macaroni And Beef Simple Supper (Soup)
Yield: 4 Servings
Recipe By : "Backpacker's Cookbook" by Margaret Cross and Jean Fiske
9 oz macaroni, whole-wheat
2 oz freeze-dried beef chunks, or
2 beef bouillon cubes
2 oz tomato crystals
1 ts basil
1 ts oregano
1/4 ts garlic powder
separately
1 env cream of onion soup to make 2 1/2 cups
1 pk freeze-dried corn
salt -- as needed
7 1/2 c water
Bring 7 cups water to boil. Add macaroni-meat package and simmer 10 minutes. Mix about 1/2 cup cold water into soup. Add to pot and cook 5 minutes longer, or until macaroni and meat are tender. Corn should be rehydrated according to instructions and added at the proper time. Makes 8 - 8 1/2 cups.
