Recipe: New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp (microwave)

NEW ORLEANS BARBECUE SHRIMP

3 lbs. large (20-25) shrimp (unpeeled with heads)
3 tbsp. black pepper
2 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. cayenne pepper
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp. rosemary
1/2 tsp. oregano
2 bay leaves (crushed)
1 tsp. dry barbecue powder

Wash and drain shrimp. Sprinkle shrimp generously with pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, paprika, bay leaves, oregano, barbecue powder, and place in 11x7-inch glass baking dish.

FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1/3 cup worcestershire sauce
1 medium lemon (squeezed juice from)
1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce

Combine the sauce ingredients in a 4 cup Pyrex bowl.

Microwave on High Power 2 minutes. Pour over Shrimp. Cover with wax paper.

Microwave on High Power 10 to 12 minutes. Stir shrimp once or twice during cooking time until all shrimp are pink all over.

After cooking, sprinkle salt (to taste) over shrimp and let stand 5 minutes (if you salt during the cooking process it will make the shrimp shell hard to peel).

Serve in soup bowls with French Bread for dipping.
