Recipe: Rotel Hot Tomato Hamburger (using tortilla chips, 1970's)

HOT TOMATO HAMBURGER


1 lb. ground beef
1 (8 1/2 oz.) package tortilla chips
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 (10 oz.) can Ro-Tel Tomatoes and Green Chilies
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup

Brown ground beef and onion; drain and set aside.

Mix Rotel with soup; set aside.

Crush tortilla chips slightly; layer all ingredients in a 2 quart casserole beginning and ending with tortilla chips.

Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until bubbly.

MICROWAVE INSTRUCTIONS:
Brown ground beef in microwave oven 4 1/2 minutes on full power; it is not necessary to saute the onions; drain. Follow instructions above for assembling casserole. Cook on medium power (covered) for 10-12 minutes.

Makes 4-6 servings
