Recipe: Sausage and Green Chili Strata

Breakfast and Brunch
SAUSAGE AND GREEN CHILI STRATA

Oil the pan and layer in it:
5 slices white bread, cubed
1 cup diced green chiles
3 cups grated cheddar cheese (or use half cheddar and half Monterey jack)
1 pound pork sausage, browned and drained
4 eggs
2 cups milk
3/4 tsp. chili powder
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Oil a 13x9-inch baking pan. Place in the pan a layer of half the bread cubes, half the chiles and half the cheese. Add all the sausage over the cheese. Repeat layers with the remaining bread, chiles and cheese.

Mix the eggs, milk chili powder, salt and black pepper together; pour over all in pan. Chill overnight in refrigerator.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 30 minutes or until puffed and browned.
