Recipe(tried): Four Layer Dessert

Here is my all time favorite dessert for any gathering.
I'm sure you all have it :)

Four Layer Dessert

First Layer
1/4 lb butter or margarine,melted
1 cup flour
2 oz. ground pecans or walnuts, optional

Mix all together and press in 9 by 13 pan. Bake at 375^F for 15 minutes.Allow to cool completely before adding next layer.

Second Layer
1 8 oz. cream cheese,softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 8 oz. cool whip, thawed

Blend together until there are no lumps and spread over crust. Crust will crack a little.

Third Layer
2 large boxes instant chocolate pudding or 2 small boxes depending on flavor.
Mix according to package and spread over cream cheese layer.

Fourth Layer
1 8 oz. container cool whip, thawed
Spread over pudding

Refrigerate overnight.

Variations:
Use coconut cream pudding and a 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple, drained added over the cream cheese layer and before the pudding layer. Use 2-3 sliced bananas and place over cream cheese layer. When I do this, I make 1 layer of chocolate pudding and one vanilla pudding. Use fresh blueberrries and spread over cream cheese layer and use 2 large boxes of vanilla pudding.
