Recipe: Macaroni Salad Supreme (using Italian dressing and mayonnaise)

MACARONI SALAD SUPREME

7 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked
1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. Accent/MSG (optional)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 medium red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup green onions, with tops, sliced
1 (8 oz) can peas, drained (or 1 cup cooked, drained frozen peas)
2 cups cubed cooked ham or chicken
1/2 cup mayonnaise (or as needed)
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
2 tbsp. pickle relish

Cook, rinse and drain macaroni according to package directions. Add dressing and refrigerate overnight or several hours to marinate.

Stir in parsley, garlic salt, MSG (if using), salt and pepper. Add vegetables and meat; mix lightly and thoroughly. Refrigerate.

Shortly before serving time, mix in mayonnaise, mustard and relish. Serve chilled.

Makes 8-12 servings
