Recipe: Homemade Granola with Nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts, cashews and pine nuts)
Breakfast and BrunchGRANOLA WITH NUTS
2 cups uncooked steel-cut oats
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup finely shredded coconut
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped slivered almonds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 cup pine nuts
1/4 cup chopped cashew nuts
1/4 cup chopped English walnuts
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon freshly ground allspice
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Mix together all the nuts, oats, coconut, and wheat germ; spread the mixture evenly over 4 cookie sheets.
Heat the butter and blend in the honey, adding the allspice. Spread the honey butter evenly over the nut mixtures; stir until the nuts and oats are coated nicely.
Bake for about 25 minutes, until golden brown. Take the cookie sheets from the oven and stir the dates into the granola, distributing evenly. Cool.
Cut into bars, pack into airtight containers, and refrigerate until needed.
