Recipe: Anise Beef Kebabs

ANISE BEEF KEBABS

Four 8-inch wooden skewers
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon anise seeds or crushed fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
Pinch crushed red pepper (optional)
1 pound boneless beef top sirloin steak, 1-inch thick, cut into 1 1/4-inch chunks

Soak wooden skewers in water 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine olive oil, anise seeds, salt, coarsely ground black pepper and crushed red pepper. Add steak chunks and toss to coat; let stand 10 minutes.

Thread steak chunks on shewers.

Place skewers on grill over medium heat; cook 8 to 10 minutes or until medium-rare, turning occasionally.
