GARLIC TOAST 101
If you went to school to learn how to make garlic bread, this is what you would learn on the first day. There are many variations on garlic bread, but this is the basic--and the best. You really can't beat the fresh garlic flavor. Use bread that is a day or two old for best results. Try topping the bread with a slice of fresh tomato after brushing with olive oil.
slices of French bread, 1/2 to 1 inch thick
fresh garlic cloves
Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
salt and black pepper to taste
Toast bread under broiler or in a toaster oven. Meanwhile, cut garlic clove(s) in half, lengthwise. When the toast has browned, remove from oven. While still hot, rub the cut side of a garlic clove over the top of a slice of toast (careful--a little rubbing goes a long way!). Using a pastry brush, brush each slice with olive oil. Salt and pepper each slice to taste. Serve immediately.
