Recipe: Mandarin Orange Salad with Sweet and Sou

Mandarin Salad with Sweet and Sour Dressing

Makes about 8 servings

here's one of my favorite salads with steak.

1/2 head iceberg lettuce, torn
1/2 head red-tipped leaf lettuce (can use Romaine lettuce if desired), torn

1 head Bibb or Boston lettuce, torn
1/2 purple onion, thinly sliced
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 cup walnut pieces, toasted
Dressing**

Combine the first 6 ingredients in large salad bowl. Pour dressing over top; toss to coat. Serve immediately.

SWEET AND SOUR DRESSING
Makes about 1 cup

1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup tarragon vinegar (or can use red wine vinegar)
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1/8 tsp Tabasco sauce

Combine all the ingredients in jar; cover tightly and shake.
