Butter Dips

Makes 18
1/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk
Melt butter in a 9 x 9-inch baking pan in a 450 degree F oven. Remove as soon as butter melts.
In bowl, combine dry ingredients together. Add milk. Stir 30 strokes with fork until dough clings together. Turn out and knead 10 times. Roll 1/2-inch thick into a 8 x 8-inch square. With a knife cut into 4-inch wide strips, then crosswise to make 18 strips. Dip sticks in butter, place in pan, and bake 15 to 20 minutes.
