Recipe: Cabbage and Noodles

Side Dishes - Assorted
There is many versions of this dish, this one is Polish, I belive --- but Cabbage and Noodels is very popular in all Eastern European Countries and the differences are minimal - you can cook the cabbage ahead of time and lightly saute it in butter, or just do as posted below; amount of butter can be cut down, but of course it won't taste the same :-)

CABBAGE AND NOODLES

8 ounces egg noodles
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 head cabbage, shredded
2 onions, chopped
salt and pepper (to taste)
buttered bread or cracker crumbs

Cook and drain the noodles, according to the package directions.

Melt the butter in large skillet, add the cabbage, and cook until soft.

Add onions, and continue cooking until cabbage is browned.

Stir in the cooked noodles, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well, top with the buttered crumbs, and serve with bratwurst or ham loaf.

Enjoy,
Anna
