Caramel-Oatmeal Brownies
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar -- packed
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup butter or margarine -- melted
1 package Betty Crocker Subreme turtle brownie mix
3 tablespoons water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease (or use cooking spray) bottom of 13x9-inch pan. Stir together oats, flour, brown sugar and baking soda in a medium bowl. Stir in margarine. Reserve 1 cup oat mixture; press remaining oat mixture in pan. Bake 10 minutes; cool 5 minutes. Stir together dry brownie mix, water, oil, and eggs until well blended. Spread over baked layer. Squeeze caramel pouch 15 to 20 times or until softened. Cut off corner to make a small opening, about 1/4". Drizzle over batter, sprinkle with reserved oat mixture. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until oat mixture is golden brown; cool. Makes about 48 brownies.
