Recipe: Cherry Apple Crisp

Cherry Apple Crisp
This recipe comes from Blue Bonnet Margarine.

3 large tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 can (12 oz) sour pitted cherries, drained
1 cup unsifted flour
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Combine apples and cherries; arrange in greased 2-quart shallow baking dish.

In bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in margarine using pastry blender or two knives. Sprinkle over fruit.

Bake 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender.

If desired, serve with sour cream or whipped cream.

Makes 6 to 8 servings
