Recipe: Chocolate Chocolate Chip Doughnuts
Breakfast and BrunchCHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP DOUGHNUTS
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons oil
1 large egg
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup coarsely chopped chocolate chips
Oil (for frying)
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar in large mixing bowl.
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, 1 1/2 tablespoons oil and egg. Stir cocoa powder into dry ingredients. Add wet mixture. Mix thoroughly. Turn dough out onto floured surface. Knead in chocolate chips. Press
into a round. Wrap in plastic wrap. Chill for 1 hour.
Divide dough in half. Roll each half to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter.
Deep fry in 375 degree F oil for 1 minute on each side, or until done. Drain on paper towels.
