DEBBIE’S CHECKERED DREAMS
This has got to be my all time favorite!! square

1 tbsp white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup flour
mix with fork. put in a 8X8 ungreased pan.

1/2 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup white sugar
2 beaten eggs
3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp almond flavoring

Cream butter, sugar, almond flavoring & eggs.
Add flour, mix. Divide batter in 2 separate bowls.
Tint 1 half of the batter green or what ever color you prefer.
Drop on the unbaked shortbread bottom, checkered board style. Tap pan lightly.

ALMOND ICING
2 tbsp softened butter
2 tbsp warm milk
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
1 tsp almond flavoring

Mix above together, spread on cake when cool.
