Walla-Maui Ribs
From: 50th anniversary cookbook published by the Maui Association for Family and Community Education
Serving Size : 6

5 pounds short ribs
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup catsup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cloves garlic -- minced
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 cup water
2 large onions -- sliced

Cut the short ribs into serving pieces. Mix together all the other ingredients except the onions, and pour over the ribs. Refrigerate at least an hour, mooshing the ribs with the sauce once or twice.

Plunk everything into a large casserole and top with the onion slices. Cover and bake in a 350-degree oven for 2 hours, checking once or twice to ensure that the sauce isn't cooking away.

When the meat is tender, serve the ribs with cooked rice or egg noodles. This should be enough ribs for six or more guests.
