SOUTH FLORIDA CITRUS SAUCE
"Try this sauce on chilled boiled shrimp as a substitute for the standard cocktail sauce."
1/2 cup butter
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup tomato puree
5 tablespoons prepared horseradish
Juice of 4 limes
Juice of 1 medium orange
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
Mix the ingredients in a saucepan and bring the liquid to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture until it thickens, approximately 40 minutes. Stir frequently.
Serve the sauce warm or chilled. It keeps, refrigerated, for a couple of weeks.
