Recipe: Chicken Delaware (broiled chicken using beer and catsup, 1960's)

1/4 cup Wesson oil
1/4 cup beer
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
2 tbsp. catsup
1 tsp. dried basil, crumbled
Bread crumbs
Paprika
Combine oil and beer with salt, pepper, catsup and basil. Use to baste chicken during broiling.*
Shortly before serving, baste chicken well, then cover lightly with bread crumbs mixed with paprika. Broil till brown.
*If the same basting brush is used on the chicken before it is fully cooked and dipped back into the sauce for each basting, set aside some sauce separately to use in the final basting.
Makes 4 servings
