Recipe: Real New Orleans Drop Cookies (Brer Rabbit Molasses, 1956)

3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup Brer Rabbit Molasses
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnut meats
Slowly melt shortening; cool. Add molasses and eggs; beat well.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and baking soda; add alternately with milk to first mixture. Add raisins and nut meats. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet.
Bake in hot oven, 425 degrees F, for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen
