Recipe: Savory Chicken Divan (using stuffing croutons, Kellogg's, 1970's)

1/2 cup regular margarine or butter
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash ground black pepper
2 cups water
2 chicken bouillon cubes
2 cups Kellogg's Croutettes Stuffing Herb Seasoned Croutons
1 (10 oz.) package frozen broccoli spears, cooked and drained*
8 large slices cooked chicken or turkey breasts
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Melt margarine in saucepan; stir in flour, salt and pepper, Add 2 cups water gradually, stirring constantly; add bouillon cubes. Cook until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Spread croutons in bottom of greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over the croutons. Arrange broccoli over croutons and sauce, top with a layer of chicken slices, cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) about 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
*Fresh broccoli may be used in place of frozen.
Makes 4-6 servings
