 Painted Sugar Cookies

Take one egg yolk, add 1 tsp. water (approximate) and a few drops of food color. Stir until smooth (but not until frothy!) and paint the cookies. Bake them according to the cookie recipe. The egg yolk "paint" will get a nice shiny surface and also holds a fairly bright color. Remember to compensate for the yellow color of the yolk in mixing your colors... you need to use about double the amount of blue to get a real blue; just a few drops of blue will make green!
