Recipe: String Beans Marinara

This is my Italian mom's recipe, which would feed 4 or more people:

Cook 4 cloves minced garlic in 1-2 Tbsp. good quality olive oil, with salt and pepper to taste, over medium heat until soft (about 5 minutes).

Add 5 fresh garden tomatoes (or one 16 oz. can peeled tomatoes) and 2 or 3 fresh basil leaves (do not use dry flakes). Simmer over low heat.

At the same time, cook 1 1/2 lbs. fresh green beans in just enough salted water to cover, until par-boiled. When done, drain most of the bean water.

Add tomato mixture to beans and continue cooking over low heat until the beans are tender.
