Recipe: Warm Camembert Torte (using puff pastry dough with apples and fresh herbs)
Appetizers and SnacksWARM CAMEMBERT TORTE
2 small apples, peeled, cored and chopped
2 teaspoons butter or margarine
1 cup mixed fresh herbs: basil, tarragon, parsley
1 round of Camembert
1 sheet puff pastry
1 egg yolk
Peel, core and chop apples; heat in skillet with butter on medium heat for 5 minutes until apple turns golden. Remove from heat and set aside.
Remove crust from Camembert; place cheese back in its original container, making a hole in center of cheese. Set aside.
In saucepan and heat on medium the removed crust with herbs until all the crust is completely melted.
Place Camembert in center of puff pastry; pour herb mixture in hole in cheese; cover with apple; turn edges of puff pastry over sides of cheese, wet top of puff pastry with egg yolk.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Let cool before serving.
Serve with green salad and vinaigrette dressing.
