Recipe: Macaroni Royal (with cheese, bacon, and tomato soup) (Mueller's Macaroni, 1937)

1 package Mueller's Macaroni
7 slices lean bacon,
1 small onion, chopped
1 can condensed cream of tomato soup (1 1/3 cups)
1 1/3 cups water
1/4 lb. snappy cheese (sharp cheddar), grated or crumbled
Cook macaroni as directed and drain.
Panbroil bacon until crisp and cut in small pieces.
Cook onion in bacon fat 5 minutes, remove from fat and add to tomato soup and water.
Into buttered baking dish put alternate layers of the cooked macaroni, cheese and bacon until all ingredients have been used. Pour over the tomato mixture.
Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees F., about 30 minutes.
