Recipe(tried): Pinto Beans

Side Dishes - Beans
Pinto Beans:
Serves 8-10

1 lb.dried pinto beans
water
2 cloves garlic,minced
2 onions,finely chopped
1/3 c.finely chopped Jalapeno peppers,seeds removed
1 Tbls.sugar
1 tsp.ground cumin
1/4 tsp.black pepper
1 tsp.salt
3/4 c.finely chopped smoked bacon or salt pork

Wash beans,put into a large bowl or cooking pot.Pour water over beans to cover,let stand overnight.Drain & discard water.

Put beans,garlic,onions,peppers,sugar,cumin & pepper into a large cooking pot.Pour 6 c.water over mixture,bring to a boil & simmer 45 minutes.

Add salt & bacon,continue to simmer till beans are tender,about 45 minutes.
