STUFFED CABBAGE
4 3/4 cups water, divided use
12 large cabbage leaves, washed
1 pound lean ground beef or lamb
1/2 cup cooked rice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
3/4 cup water
Boil 4 cups water. Turn heat off. Soak cabbage leaves in water for 5 minutes. Remove, drain, and cool.
Combine remaining ingredients except tomato paste and remaining 3/4 water. Place 2 tablespoons of mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll firmly. Stack in crockpot.
Combine tomato paste and 3/4 cup water and pour over stuffed cabbage.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours.
