Recipe: Buttery Chocolate Nut Toffee

BUTTERY CHOCOLATE NUT TOFFEE

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter cut into pieces
1 (6 ounce) package semi sweet real chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

In 2 quart saucepan, combine sugar and butter. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees F or small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms brittle stands, 25-30 minutes.

Spread on waxed paper lined (15x10x1-inch) jelly roll pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy; let stand 5 minutes.

Spread melted chocolate evenly over candy; sprinkle with nuts. Cool completely; break into prices.

Makes about 1 1/4 pounds
