BAKED CARAMEL CORN

1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 quarts popped corn

Melt butter in 2 qt. Saucepan; stir in sugar, corn syrup and salt.
Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Boil without stirring for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla.
Gradually pour over popped corn mixing well.
Turn into 2 large shallow baking pans.
Bake in 250 oven for 1 hr stirring every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, cool completely.
Break apart.
Store in tightly covered containers.

If you have an old coffee tin , clean out ,this works great. I put a plastic bag inside the tin first.
