Recipe: Sausage Balls
Appetizers and Snacks Sausage Balls
From: Scubamare,TN
From Mrs. Coppedge early 1970'S, I was in 8th or 9th grade cast party at Hallie's house
1 (20 oz.) pkg Bisquick
1 lb sausage (either hot or mild - whichever you prefer)
1/2 lb cheddar cheese
1/2 lb American or processed cheese food
(you can use 1 whole pound cheddar instead of mixing cheeses if you prefer - I use all cheddar)
Empty Bisquick into a large bowl. Grate the cheese and let stand at room temperature to soften Let sausage stand at room temperature also Add all this together and use just a dab of hot water, if needed, to make it moist enough to mix with hands mix this well and roll into balls (a little bigger than a large marble) Bake about 10 minutes in 370F oven if frozen bake longer (12 or 15 minutes)
"Nell Brewer gave me this recipe she didn't say anything about the hot water but I just sort of wet my hands with the water and this aids in the rolling and mixing you don't want to get them sticky just enough to hold together and be moist enough to shape.
